Gov. Noem visits Sioux Falls following storms

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem was in Sioux Falls Wednesday looking over damage from overnight storms and tornadoes and meeting with local officials.

She says the response has been very well coordinated.

National Weather Service officials said three tornadoes touched down, with winds estimated at 120 to 130 miles an hour.

Noem says it’s a miracle that no one was killed in the storms.

Noem says she doesn’t know if the area will be declared a disaster area.

Noem says the White House had contacted her office asking if any federal assistance was needed.
