Governor declares state of emergency, asking schools to close

PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says the latest report from the Department of Health shows only a slight increase in confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Noem says she has asked schools to close.

Aberdeen Public Schools, Aberdeen Catholic Schools and Aberdeen Christian School will all be closed next week. Christian also has spring break the following week.

Noem says she is also taking other executive action.

Noem says visitation to nursing homes and other medical facilities will be restricted.
