SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(WNAX)- All South Dakota republican incumbents won their statewide races in Tuesday’s primary election.
Governor Kristi Noem easily defeated state Representative Steven Haugaard of Sioux Falls by a seventy-six to twenty four percent margin. Congressman Dusty Johnson defeated state Representative Taffy Howard of Rapid City by a margin of fifty nine to forty one percent.
Noem says her campaign continues to be about freedom.
She faces democrats Jamie Smith in November.
Johnson says there are serious challenges ahead.
Johnson says he will continue the work that got him the primary win.
Johnson has a libertarian challenger ahead in November.
Senator John Thune easily defeated two challengers with seventy two percent of republican votes. He will face democrat Brian Bengs in November.
