PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- As state primaries across the country continue to show the dominance of Donald Trump in the United States Republican Party, speculation is growing about what that means for South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem.
On Monday, Noem met with Trump in Florida, further fanning the flames of speculation.
Speaking with the South Dakota Broadcaster’s Association this week, Noem said she has had a good working relationship with Trump for many years.
Noem didn’t reveal whether or not the two discussed a Trump-Noem ticket for the November 2024 general election.
When asked how she feels about being on a short list of potential candidates to run with Trump.
Some say one of the points against Noem is that South Dakota has a low population, having only three votes in the Electoral College.
If Noem would need to spend months on the campaign trail with Trump, she says South Dakota will be in good hands with Lt. Governor Larry Rhoden.
Barring any major complications, Trump is expected to get the party’s endorsement during the Republican National Convention in July in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
