Governor Noem discuss the disturbance that took place at state prison in Sioux Falls Wednesday

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio with audio from SDBA)- On Wednesday night, a disturbance took place at the state prison that included a correction officer being injured in the process.

Governor Noem spoke with SDBA’s Austin Goss about the incident that took place there.

A new prison is many years away, Governor Noem talks about what can be done now to prevent this from happening again.

One of the issues that led to an altercation at the prison was the use of tablets.  Governor Noem explain why tablets were removed from prisoner’s access at this time.

Prisoners are still allowed to mail or use the phone to contact family & friends.

The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office is investigating what happened at the prison Wednesday.
