Governor Noem express disappointment her bill mandating moment of silence at start of school day didn’t pass

PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem had proposed a bill that would mandate a moment of silence in public schools to allow students to pray. That bill was killed in a House committee.

Noem says she will continue to push lawmakers to reshape educational standards for civics and history.

Noem says teaching history is now a national topic.

The state Education Department has restarted the process to set curriculum for civics and history.
