PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- We’re not quite half way through this year’s legislative session, but South Dakota lawmakers have maintained a steady pace of moving bills through committees and over to the opposite Chamber for consideration.
House Democratic Party leader Representative Oren Lesmeister (less-my-ster) from Parade says another thing that’s been consistent so far is good communication with his colleagues in Republican Party leadership.
Lesmeister says they’re already discussing Senate bills on the House floor.
Republican South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says she and her staff have noticed that improved communication and good relationships are getting things done in a more timely fashion than in previous years.
Noem says one topic still being worked through is school funding and teacher pay.
There are 38 days in this year’s legislative session.
