Governor Noem’s call for special session this spring to focus on budget & medical marijuana

PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has said she plans to call the legislature back to Pierre for a special session in late May or early June.

Part of the call would deal with the next round of federal stimulus funding the state will receive.

House Majority Leader Kent Peterson of Salem says they have had some talks about that.

Peterson says it will be another significant amount of money.

Peterson says they got some practice with that type of federal funding last year.

The Governor also wants legislators to attempt to clean up wording on “IM26” the medical marijuana initiative. She apparently will drop her request to pass restrictions on trans gender women participating in sports.
