GPAC Volleyball Preseason Poll Is Released

Sioux City, IA (gpacsports.com) – The University of Jamestown tallied 101 points and was picked first in the 2023 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Preseason Coaches’ Volleyball Poll. The Jimmies garnered five of the twelve first place votes.

Concordia, was picked second in the poll with 99 points and three first place votes. Northwestern was just behind the Bulldogs with 95 points and three first place votes. Midland came in fourth with 88 points and one first place vote. All of those teams made it to the final site (Sioux City) last season along with Dakota Wesleyan, Hastings and the College of Saint Mary.

Jamestown was the NAIA National Champions, GPAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion in 2022 with a record of 37-2 overall and 15-1 in conference play. In all, eight GPAC teams finished the season ranked or receiving votes (Jamestown, Midland, Concordia, Dakota Wesleyan, Northwestern, the College of Saint Mary, Hastings and Dordt.)

The 44th Annual NAIA National Volleyball Championship is set for November 18 – December 5, with action at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa on November 29-December 5. The GPAC regular and postseason champions will earn the automatic berth to the NAIA Volleyball Championship.

The 2023 GPAC volleyball season will consist of 16 conference matches with 12 teams competing for the conference crown. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team in the preseason poll.
