PIERRE, S.D. (SDBA) — A South Dakota House committee Tuesday passes a bill restricting medical procedures that would change the gender of a minor.

HB 1080 passed 11 to 2 on a party-line vote.

Bill sponsor, Republican Rep. Fred Deutsch from Florence.

He also said parents need to protect their children.

The measure now goes to the House.
