PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota House State Affairs committee heard testimony on a bill that would prohibit the use of state resources in hosting events with lewd or lascivious content.
Representative Chris Karr of Sioux Falls said he based the bill on rulings from the US Supreme Court.
The bill grew out of a drag show sponsored by a student group at South Dakota State University.
Garret Satterlee, a student at SDSU, says the bill could have unintended consequences.
Representative Rebecca Reimer of Chamberlain said if the Regents won’t set policy than its up to the legislature.
