PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- A bill to require the posting of South Dakota’s motto, “Under God, the People Rule” or the state’s seal in public schools has cleared the South Dakota House of Representatives. Representative Linda Duba of Sioux Falls says House Bill 1198 is another mandate.
Representative Charlie Hoffman of Eureka urged passage.
Representative Tim Goodwin of Rapid City also took issue with requiring schools to do this, if passed.
H-B 1198 cleared the House floor on a 41-27 vote with two excused. The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.
