HB1200 deferred to the 41st day

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota Senate State Affairs Committee debated a bill that would change how petition signatures are gathered for constitutional amendments.

HB1200 would have required signatures to be collected from all thirty five legislative districts. The sponsor was Representative Liz May of Kyle.

Chase Jensen with Dakota Rural Action told the committee the bill is not needed.

The committee voted eight to one to send it to the forty first day, effectively killing it.
