YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – President Trump has issued an executive order on health care price and quality transparency. The order directs a number of federal agencies to adopt rules and policies that open up health care practices and prices.

Doug Ekeren, President of Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, says they have been posting prices of medical procedures for some time.

Ekeren says there is no guarantee that posting prices will force them down.

Ekeren says more transparency could help people avoid the so called surprise billing.

The federal government has required health care providers that deal with Medicare to openly post costs for most medical procedures.
