ABERDEEN, S.D. (APD Facebook) – At approximately 3:29 a.m. on April 14 Aberdeen Police responded to the 200 block of 2nd Curve at Lakeside Estates regarding the report of a suicidal subject. It had been reported to officers that a 16 year-old male had been making suicidal threats.
As the subject refused to meet officers at the door, an officer made contact through a window on the southwest side of the residence. A gunshot was fired from inside the residence through the window where the officer was standing. The officer was not struck.
Shortly thereafter, another shot was heard from inside the residence. It was determined that the subject had shot himself. Once the subject was secured, he was transported to Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.
