PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Industrial Hemp Association leaders will be meeting with the Legislature’s Rules Review Committee at their meeting Monday, Dec. 7 in Pierre. Association Executive Director Katie (see-ver-ding) Sieverding says they will talk with lawmakers about the state’s approved USDA plan, as well as the industrial hemp legislation passed last year and the proposed regulations from the Department of Public Safety.

She says besides growers interested in growing industrial hemp, there are a pair of companies wanting to process industrial hemp.

Sieverding says once all the rules are in place, they’ll be able to proceed quickly with industrial hemp production in South Dakota as well as setting the stage for spring planting of the crop.
