OMAHA, Neb. (WNAX) – High releases from Gavins Point Dam on the Missouri River near Yankton will continue for the next few months.
John Remus, Chief of the Corps of Engineers Missouri River Basin Water Management Office in Omaha, says they still have lots of excess water to move.
Remus says they want to drop flood storage before the river starts to freeze.
The Corps had been encouraged to drop the reservoirs even lower this fall. Remus says they probably won’t have enough time to do that.
Remus spoke this week at a subcommittee hearing of the Senate Environment and Public Works committee in North Sioux City (SD).
