VERMILLION, S.D. (WNAX) – Even as graduation time rolls around this spring, higher education officials are looking ahead to fall.
University of South Dakota President Sheila Gestring says they are focusing on keeping students on campus for their full four years.
Gestring says a good freshman year is critical to getting to graduation.
She says they have apps now where a student can stay in almost constant contact.
About 30 percent of first year students need remedial classes. Gestring says getting through math is critical.
About 1,400 graduates walked the stage at USD this past weekend.
