Highway 46 in SE South Dakota to get an upgrade

IRENE, S.D.(WNAX)- A contract has been awarded for another major highway construction project in southeast South Dakota. Regional Department of Transportation Engineer Greg Rothschadl says Foothills Contracting of Webster got the nineteen million dollar contract for work on about twenty miles of Highway 46.

Rothschadl says this year will be mostly prep work.

Rothschadl says the road will be closed when they start the regrading.

The highway has been rebuilt in segments, first from the Iowa border to Beresford, then to Irene.
