BROOKINGS, S.D. (KJJQ) – The South Dakota Department of Transportation will once again raise the grade on Highway 81 south of Arlington because of high water.
Craig Smith is the Mitchell Region Engineer for the South Dakota Department of Transportation and is overseeing this project.
Highway 81 south of Arlington will be raised for a length of two miles from 213th Street to south of 215th Street. Anticipated cost for this work is $4 million.
This is the third time this road has needed to be raised.
He says they’re working now on getting bids and they hope to start work late this month with the roadway expected to re-open to traffic in late October.
