FORT PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- The only two days of horse racing in South Dakota will be held Oct. 4-5, 2025, at the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Fort Pierre.

The Verendrye Benevolent Association hosts the races and Track Manager Shane Kramme (cray-me) says the horses competing come from around the area.

With limited funding available for prizes, Kramme says drawing horses to race in South Dakota is challenging.

Kramme says for those who would like to participate, parimutual wagering is an option again this year.

This is the 77th year of horse racing in Fort Pierre.
