Hospitalizations down by 19, one new COVID-related death

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state saw a decrease in hospitalizations and one new COVID-related death according to totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The state had an additional 529 new cases and 338 new recoveries, pushing the amount of active infections to 13,325 (there were 11,061 one week ago). The death moved to the state’s overall total to 438. There were 19 less hospitalizations, lowering that number to 402.

Overall, the state has had 45,932 confirmed cases and 34,087 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 54 new cases and currently has 473 active infections. The county has had 2,274 total confirmed cases and 1,795 recoveries. There have been six total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 12,758 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 4,948, and Lincoln County with 3,226. Other counties totals include Codington with 1,706, Brookings with 1,565, Beadle with 1,423, Davison with 1,143, Lawrence with 1,070, Oglala Lakota with 1,063, and Meade with 1,052.
