PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- A bill that would protect university students and employees from divisive concepts survived a hearing in the Senate Education Committee.

Allen Cambon from Governor Kristi Noem’s office said Critical Race Theory is a false concept.

Senator Troy Heinert of Mission says divisive concepts depends on your perceptions.

Committee Chairman, Senator Blake Curd of Sioux Falls said the entire Senate should make the decision.

After more debate, the bill was sent to the Senate floor with a four to three do pass recommendation.
