PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Friday, the South Dakota House Commerce and Energy Committee heard testimony on HB1155.  The bill permit the state to invest in Bitcoin.

Prime sponsor of the bill was District 1 Representative Logan Manhart who introduced a similar bill in 2025.

Manhart describe what BitCoin is to the committee.

Speaking if favor was Dennis Porter of Satoshi Action.

In opposition of the bill was Matt Clark with the South Dakota Investment Council.

District 22 Representative Lana Greenfield is on this committee & she motioned to place it on the 41st day.  She discuss her concerns about the regulation of Bitcoins.

The committee voted 10-3 to send it to the 41st day effectively defeating the bill.
