House Commerce & Energy Committee defeat HB1193(Pipeline/Siting)

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota House Commerce & Energy Committee on Monday discussed HB1193.  This bill provide that required siting permits be filed with condemnation petitions.

Prime Sponsor was Rocky Blare of Ideal & he was rather blunt about this.

Spink County landowner Ed Fischbach talks about Summit Carbon Solutions not following through with dismissing condemnation lawsuits after the PUC denied their permits.

Lobbyist representing Summit Carbon Solutions,  Trevor Jones believes this is a stall tactic being used by the landowners.

Representative Joe Donnell of Sisseton offered his support to the bill because he felt landowners needs to be defended.

Representative Amber Arlint of Sioux Falls discuss her opposition to the bill.

The do pass motion fail on a 4-7 vote.  The committee sent it to the 41st day on a 7-4 vote killing the bill.
