House Commerce & Energy Committee defeat HB1256(90% easements for pipeline)

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The House Commerce & Energy Committee discuss HB1256 Monday night.  HB1256 which establish percentage requirements for voluntary agreements governing pipeline construction prior to the filing of a petition for condemnation.

Prime sponsor was Representative was John Sjaarda of Valley Springs who was looking to establish a 90% requirement for this petition.

Supporters of this bill include Jeremiah Murphy with Landowners for Eminent Domain Reform.

The committee instead decided to send it to the 41st day effectively killing the bill on a 9-4 vote.
