PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota House Health & Human Services committee heard Tuesday on HB1055. The bill modify medical cannabis certification requirements.
Prime sponsor of the bill was District 3 Representative Al Novstrup.
Former representative Fred Deutsch discuss the intent of the bill.
Among those oppose to the bill include Jeremiah Murphy, lobbyist for Cannabis Industry Association.
Also speaking to oppose this bill was the author IM26 which made medical cannabis legal in 2020, Melissa Mentele.
On that committee District 1 Representative Logan Manhart put a motion to pass this bill.
Also on the committee requesting to move it to the 41st day was Representative Taylor Rehfeldt of Sioux Falls.
The committtee voted 8-5 to defer the bill to the 41st day which for now would defeat the bill.
