PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota House State Affairs Committee heard testimony on Monday on HB1242 limit the amount of money that may be transferred to a candidate campaign committee, a political action committee, or a political party by the authorized committee of a candidate for federal office.
The bill was originally introduced by Representative Tim Reisch of Howard when he removed this from SB12 which limit contributions to $10,000 to be loaned to a candidate or legislative committee on the House floor back on February 5th.
Reisch elected to remove himself as prime sponsor of the bill and Representative Spencer Gosch of Glenham took over.
Gosch was asked if this bill was an anti-Dusty Johnson bill.
Opposition testimony came from Rick Weible of Midwest Swamp Watch who felt there was no penalty even if the bill was passed.
On the committee, supporting the bill was Representative Brandei Schaefbauer of Aberdeen.
Opposing the bill now is the same person that orignially introduced the bill to begin with. Representative Reisch believes this is an attack on Congressman Johnson who may have interest in running office in South Dakota.
The bill passed out of the committee on a 11-1 vote.
