House State Affairs pass SB12

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota House State Affairs Committee discuss SB12 that limit the amount of money that may be loaned to a candidate or political committee.

Prime sponsor of the bill is Senator Michael Rohl of Aberdeen.

Rohl discuss looking ahead to future and now reflecting on elections in the past.

Opposing the bill and testifying was Brian Lewis, lobbyist for Dakota First Action.  Lewis told the committee that this felt like a personal attack on Aberdeen businessman Toby Doeden who is the head of this PAC.

During committee discussion, Representative Spencer Gosch of Glenham offered an amendment to the bill.

The committee passsed the bill on a 12-1 vote.  The only opposing vote was from Representative Brandei Schaefbauer of Aberdeen.  The bill now moves on to the South Dakota House.
