WASHINGTON, D.C.(KELO)- Senator Mike Rounds is pushing to put Artificial Intelligence to work on preparing for future pandemics.

Students at the Sanford/USD Med school in Vermillion are right there with him…at the forefront to developing new tools to face those challenges.

Med School Dean, Dr. Tim Ridgway says the technology has limitless potential – especially in rural areas like South Dakota.

Ridgeway, the Dean of the Sanford/USD School of medicine says AI could make a huge difference in diagnosing things like cancer.

But, there are also some concerns about using AI as a diagnostic tool.
