PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The Hughes County Commission has approved a canvass of votes from this week’s primary election. Finance Officer Thomas Oliva says voter turnout in the county was under five-percent.
Democrats had a presidential primary and Republicans had two precinct committeemen races confined to small geographic areas of the county. Oliva says for his office the election doesn’t end with the canvass,
Oliva says while the election went well it was disappointing and costly.
The audit will begin at 8:30 am and last until all ballots have been checked. The audit is being done to check the accuracy of the tabulating machines.
