The Hughes County Commission is moving forward with finding a replacement for Hughes County Sheriff Darin Johnson.  Commission Chair Randy Vance says the Commission discussed Johnson’s replacement during recent executive sessions for personnel matters.

In his role as Vice Sheriff, Johnson will get Callahan up to speed on operation of the Sheriff’s Office before Johnson retires after 26 years with the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office.  Callahan, who operates the Pierre/Fort Pierre community access television station Oahe TV has significant previous law enforcement and first responder experience as a former Pierre Police Department officer and medic for over 24 years.
