PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – Voters in Hughes County, like voters across the state and country, are taking advantage of the absentee voting process for the upcoming general election. Hughes County Auditor Jane Naylor says her office has been busy.
Due to the large number of expected absentee ballots Naylor is increasing the staffing needed to process those on Election Day.
The absentee ballots then wait for polls to close before they can be counted. Results won’t be released until polls close West River in the Mountain Time Zone. Naylor says 2,200 absentee ballots have already been returned to her office.
You still have time to register to vote as the deadline to get registered to vote in the 2020 general election is next Monday, Oct. 19.
