PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – Hughes County officials are trying to wrap their hands around conducting elections in the new environment of social distancing. County Manager Kevin Hipple told Hughes County Commissioners Monday night that absentee balloting must be required to be available at the Hughes County Courthouse.
Hughes County Auditor Jane Naylor says the Secretary of State’s office will be mass mailing of absentee ballot application forms to all registered votes.
Naylor is encouraging county residents to assist the less technically savvy with getting a photo ID copied and sent in to the Auditor’s office. There is also a good possibility the number of vote centers in Hughes County could be reduced.
Any change to the number of vote centers in Hughes County would require a resolution to do so approved by the Hughes County Commission.
