PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The Hughes County Commission has tabled a request to approve a jail contract with Haakon County.  Commissioner Tom Rounds questioned why such agreements with other counties are needed.

Sheriff Patrick Callahan says he sees very few inmates from Haakon County.

Rounds and Commissioner Rob Fines pondered doing away with such contracts next year.

Hughes County has jail contracts with 18 surrounding counties to house inmates.
