YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- Due to lack of staffing at the Human Services Center in Yankton, a number of competency evaluations for those awaiting trial across the state have been stacked up.

Department of Social Services Secretary Laurie Gill says they are working on options for the legal system.

Gill says they are working with local health care providers.

Gill says that would allow staff at HSC to work with more critical cases.

Gill says they hope to have more local   partners by the end of the year.
