YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- The Department of Social Services has had an outside consultant looking at the operations of the Human Services Center in Yankton.
Department Secretary Laurie Gill appeared before the Joint Appropriations Committee of the legislature in Pierre Monday. She says workforce availability and changes in care were reflected in the report.
Gill says the Human Services Center will continue to be a vital part of behavioral health care.
Gill says the report identified some clear goals.
Gill says the consultants found that HSC should not be expanded.
Gill told the committee the changes at HSC would be coordinated with expansion of regional health services. More details will come with the departments budget request to the legislature next month.
