YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- Law enforcement has noted an increase in gun violence and officer involved shootings across the state this summer.
Incoming Attorney General Marty Jackley says many of the weapons involved have been stolen.
Jackley says it’s a balance of citizens’ rights with public safety.
Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead pointed out a disturbing trend of teens with guns willing to use them.
Jackley says he wants to work on education and security measures.
Jackley, who was Attorney General for ten years, faces no opposition on the November ballot, and will be sworn in for another four-year term in January.
