PLATTE, S.D. (WNAX) – The “Industrial Hemp Study” Committee of the South Dakota legislature meets again Monday in Pierre.
Committee Chairman, Representative Lee Qualm of Platte says they will hear from more hemp experts, including Anthony Cortilet, the Hemp Program Supervisor for the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
Qualm says they will also hear from Major Aaron Hummel, Chief of Staff for the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Qualm says he hopes they can come up with at least an outline of a bill.
There is no one scheduled to appear from the Noem Administration. Qualm says they continue to talk to the Governors staff.
Governor Kristi Noem vetoed the bill passed earlier this year and said she would do it again if an industrial hemp bill is passed next year.
