PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- Xcel Energy has filed a seventeen percent electric rate hike request with the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission.

Commission Chairman Chris Nelson says its possible they will see more rate requests.

Nelson says state law dictates how rate hike cases are decided.

Nelson says there will be some public hearings as part of the rate case.

The PUC meets again next Tuesday.
