Initial March numbers begin to show glimpse of total revenue loss

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem said today that totals are just starting to reveal the damage the COVID-19 has done to state revenue.

In her press conference, Noem said that the initial March numbers have come in, but that they are a bit deceiving, because the coronavirus wasn’t a factor in those totals except for the last part of the month.

She said not all of those numbers are COVID-19 related. She noted that April’s numbers, which will be available in June, will be much more telling.

Noem has had dialogue with leaders in Washington about the potential to use Federal dollars to help cover some of those revenue shortfalls.
