Interim Investigation Committee to wrap up inquiry into incident

VERMILLION, S.D. (WNAX) – The Senate Interim Investigation Committee of the South Dakota legislature meets today to wrap up the inquiry into the behavior of two Senators.

Senators Kris Langer of Dell Rapids and Brock Greenfield were accused of being drunk during the final hours of the last day of this year’s session on March 31. The complaint was filed by Senator Phil Jensen of Rapid City.

The first day of the hearing was Tuesday when members viewed hours of public and security video from the Capitol hearing rooms.

Committee Chairman, Senator Art Rusch of Vermillion says any recommendation made by the committee will have to go to the full Senate.

Rusch says if there is no special session, there is an election before the next regular session.

Rusch says committee members will have several options to vote on.

There are nine members on the bi-partisan committee.
