SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- An approval…with a catch.
Summit Carbon Solutions’ proposed Carbon Capture pipeline was approved by the Iowa Utilities Board Tuesday.
But, it’s conditioned upon approval by North and South Dakota regulators.
North Dakota’s Public Service Commission completed hearings on Summit’s re-application.
It hasn’t ruled yet, but Summit CEO Lee Blank is optimistic.
Blank says the company will re-apply for a permit in South Dakota next month.
Blank says about three-fourths of all affected landowners have voluntarily signed easements to allow the project on their land in both Iowa and South Dakota.
Summit’s initial applications were denied in North and South Dakota last year.
