VERMILLION, S.D. (Press Release) – An Akron, Iowa man has been identified as the person who died early Sunday morning in a one-vehicle crash north of Vermillion.

A 1999 Grand Jeep Cherokee was southbound on South Dakota Highway 19 when the driver lost control. The vehicle entered the east ditch.

Justin Montagne, the 27-year-old driver, was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt. He was the only person involved in the crash.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
