DES MOINES, IA. (KELO.com) — There will be no Iowa State Fair this year because of COVID-19 concerns.
It was an overwhelming vote Wednesday by the Iowa State Fair Board, carried ‘Live’ on Youtube.
The vote was 11-to-2.The 2020 Iowa State Fair is postponed.
This is the first time the Iowa State Fair has been canceled since World War II.
Iowa joins Minnesota and North Dakota in canceling state fairs because of social distancing concerns. The South Dakota State Fair will go on as scheduled this September, but there will be many COVID-19 mitigation efforts yet to be fully determined.
