Wichita Falls, TX (NSUWolves.com)– The Division II Conference Commissioners Association released their 2024 Football All-America teams today with Northern State University sophomore Jake Adams listed on the first team. Adams is the first defensive first team All-American for the Wolves in the NCAA Division II era. Chance Olson earned second team accolades back in the fall of 2021 and Channing Barber was a third team honoree in 2016.
Adams started all 11 games for the Wolves in 2024 and led the team and NSIC with 147 tackles. His 100-plus mark broke the single season school record of 111 set by Steve Espinoza in 2004. In total he recorded 72 solo stops and 75 assisted, including 6.0 tackles for a loss and 1.0 sack. The Wisconsin native recorded double-digit tackles in seven of the 11 contests this season, including a season high 20 against Minot State and Bemidji State. The sophomore finished the season second in the country in total tackles and third in tackles per game.
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
Adams was also honored on the second team by the Associated Press.
