YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The James River in eastern South Dakota is still above flood stage along most of its length and there may be a repeat next year.
The James River Water Development District Board of Directors got an update from the Corps of Engineers at their last meeting. Chairman Dan Klimisch says they didn’t get much good news.
Klimisch says the Corps expects most of the James River to see flooding again next spring.
Klimisch says the district doesn’t have many flood fighting tools available.
The river in many areas went over flood stage in March and hit record high levels in the lower reaches in September.
