SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- The possibility of legal action to challenge the outcome of the race for Mayor in Sioux Falls still lingers…

In the meantime, Christine Erickson is preparing to take the oath of office Friday afternoon to become the first woman mayor of the city. Erickson has announced her transition team in preparations for the swearing in.

Jamie Smith hasn’t conceded the race, and says even if he doesn’t, the process points to the need for the legislature to consider changing election law.

Erickson has been meeting with city department heads and preparing to work on next year’s city budget.

She says the election and recount process were fair and transparent.
