YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The Joint Appropriations Committee of the South Dakota legislature was updated last week on state revenues and the budget.
Committee Member, Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says they made some minor adjustments.
The two percent increase will go to raises for state employees, health care providers and state aid to education.
Hunhoff says they, along with Governor Kristi Noem, are waiting on spending rules for the $1.2 billion the state got from the federal government.
Hunhoff says while the state will end the year with a balanced budget, they hope the revenue trend starts to go in the other direction.
The committee will meet again next month.
