PIERRE, S.D.(SDBA)- South Dakota budget writers are in the final stretch.
At Monday’s Joint Committee on Appropriations meeting, co-chairs Mike Derby and Ernie Otten used airplane jokes to describe the push toward a final state budget.
Derby said the landing gear is down and lawmakers are trying to land the plane on the 35th day.
Rep. Al Novstrup then added that the 105 lawmakers all have tickets to different destinations.
The committee hopes to have the budget complete by the end of Tuesday, the 35th day of the legislative session.
